Designers in the Couture community are constantly on the road, connecting with their retailers and the people who love their jewelry through trunk shows and personal appearances. The below Tale from a Trunk Show comes from the beloved Paula Crevoshay, whose one-of-a-kind, highly collectable work appears in museums and fine jewelers across the globe. And for the record, yes, we asked who the actress featured in her story was, but Paula's lips are sealed!
Treasure Chest – A tale of trunk show hijinks
As told by Paula Crevoshay
A well run trunk show and artist’s appearance is always fun because it is a joy to share my art with an appreciative audience, and it is a delight to meet wonderful and interesting people with a passion for collecting. Sometimes though, something truly extraordinary and memorable happens that takes it over the top!
One day, just after setting up, a very famous young actress, known for her wit and talent as much as for her great beauty, rushed in and announced that she had seen the advertisement about my appearance and just had to meet me. It seems that she had spent the last month touring Europe with a friend that “just wouldn’t quit talking about Paula Crevoshay and showing off her amazingly beautiful jewelry.”
She spent a couple of hours in high spirits trying everything on and encouraging everyone else to do the same. We didn’t expect her to contribute any more to our usual festive atmosphere after she left, but she did. Some time later she knocked on the window to get the attention of the crowd, raised her shirt to flash her own marvelous treasure chest, winked, pointed to the Crevoshay jewels on her ears with a grin and scampered off!
